Welcome to Bida Digital’s newsletter #4! Each week I will share one insight for each one of Bida’s four pillars: Website Development, Marketing, Communications & Event Management.
Website Development: Use Your Website To Develop Your Identity

This week’s website development insight comes from a fascinating event with Dr. Elizabeth Coombes. We discussed the power of websites in shaping a music therapist’s online presence. The full conversation is available on Facebook (link here).
Dr. Coombes highlighted how a website allowed her to clearly define herself as a professional, her approach, and her unique value proposition. Unlike informal conversations, a website compels you to articulate your message in a clear and concise way.
Marketing: Craft Your Core Message
This tip goes hand-in-hand with the previous one. Marketing at its core is about message creation and amplification. Whether it’s your website, social media, or other platforms, a clear and consistent message is crucial for attracting and engaging with the right audience.
Call-To-Action: Take 10 minutes to write your “elevator pitch”! If you only had a couple of minutes to explain to somebody what you are all about, what would you say? Writing this down is a great first step.

Communications: Stay Connected with Your Professional Network
Building and maintaining strong relationships within the music therapy community can be incredibly beneficial for your professional growth.

As an active member of the International Association for Music and Medicine, the German Music Therapy Association, and the Mexican Music Therapy Association, I’ve had the privilege of connecting with a diverse network of colleagues, friends, clients, and individuals I deeply admire.
Beyond simply being a member, I’ve actively engaged with these communities through email correspondence, consistent attendance at events, and active participation on social media platforms.
Event Planning: Accessibility is Sometimes More Important Than The “Wow” Factor
Prioritizing affordability is very important for music therapy events.
While it’s tempting to prioritize the most expensive and extravagant options when planning an event, true accessibility often lies in simplicity and affordability. Overly elaborate and costly solutions can inadvertently exclude a significant portion of the population who may not be able to afford participation. I think this is particularly true of our global music therapy community.
By focusing on practical and cost-effective solutions, event planners can ensure that their events are accessible to a wider range of individuals, fostering inclusivity and promoting a more democratic and equitable experience for all. This is what we focused on for the Congress of the IAMM last year in Berlin and I think we were able to offer very attractive attendance fees.

That’s it for this newsletter! I would love to know what kind of content you would want to hear more about, so feel free to reply to this email and let me know. And if you need assistance with implementing any of these tips, feel free to also reach out!
Warmly,
